The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the cannabis and liquor industry of B.C. We operate the wholesale distribution of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch Wholesale Operations division is the hub of beverage alcohol distribution in British Columbia. There are three business units; Wholesale Supply Chain, Pricing & Imports and Distribution, working in partnership with suppliers to maintain a resilient and responsive supply chain whilst focusing on exceeding our customers’ expectations, and giving back to the communities we serve. The Director leads and directs all aspects of the Wholesale Operations supply chain. The position is accountable for activities including: product identification management, demand planning/replenishment, procurement, and customer ordering from two customer centres and through an on-line web store in line with government mandates, BCLDB policies and departmental budgets. This includes leading the continuous improvement initiatives by driving all aspects of cross-functional projects, daily supply operations, reporting, work practices, metrics, software, and business tools.
This position develops and ensures a solid and positive working relationship with industry associations, wholesale customers and stakeholders and leads and develops policies and guidelines to respond to changes in the business environment, legislation, public opinion or government direction. The Director is relied upon to exercise discretion and judgment, as the designated decision-maker, to ensure compliance to regulations and policies of all beverage alcohol sold in British Columbia as well as issues-management related to product quality, Branch liability and supplier business interests.
The Director represents the Branch’s interests at events and conferences.
This position encourages continual team engagement to build strong customer-centric teams with a strong emphasis on continual development and coaching. This position is responsible for departmental KPIs and maintaining the target service levels by leading and directing a disciplined approach to ensure the right product mix at the right time, in the right locations. The Director is also responsible for efficient and cost effective operations.
A criminal record check is required. Candidates must have the ability to travel overnight within the province as required.

Education and Experience:
A degree or diploma related to supply chain management/business and a minimum of 3 years’ recent, related work experience.*
*Recent, related work experience must include:
- Leading, directing and managing in operations of a large (>$500 million sales) and complex (>5000SKU, >500 suppliers and customers), distributed wholesale/retail operation.
- Leading significant operational changes (impact to sales, multiple stakeholder relationships, IT dependencies, etc.) to achieve business operations and improve profitability.
- Leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Relationship management with key stakeholders.
- Leading and developing a diverse workgroup of employees (>15 employees).
