ARC Programs is now accepting applications for a 36-hour per week Behaviour Consultant, or an applicant with Behaviour Intervention experience interested in upgrading their skills. This position is with the Behaviour, Assessment and Support Services (BASS) Program, based out of the Castlegar office.
The BASS Program provides intensive services for Children and Youth with Special Needs (CYSN); to reduce challenging behaviours and to address complex needs of referred children and youth, in cooperation with the Ministry for Children and Family Development and other community service providers. The Behaviour Consultant will work with CYSN eligible children and youth ages 0-18 who are diagnosed on the autism spectrum, with FASD, with complex developmental behavioural conditions, or other special needs. The program utilizes an outreach, community based, family centered service delivery approach to support families to reduce and replace challenging behaviours and improve functioning in the home, school, social and community settings. The Behaviour Consultant will provide in-home comprehensive assessment, intervention and planning for families and other involved service providers. The Consultant will provide counselling and encouragement to clients and their families and/or caregivers to support the development of a healthy lifestyle, as well as providing education, training, referrals and support services for referred children and youth and their families, or caregivers.
Candidates for this position will possess sufficient training and experience to perform all responsibilities of the job description. Ideally, candidates will have directly related experience with Applied Behavioural Analysis, completing Comprehensive Functional Assessments, creating, writing and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, and experience working with children and youth with ASD, FASD and other diversabilities.
Qualified applicants will have a degree in a relevant field, such as a MSW, BSW, CYC Degree or BA, as well as directly related experience.
