Duties:
• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, loaders and graders to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock gravel or other materials
• Check machinery before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Diagnose and identify defects in heavy duty equipment
• Clean and lubricate equipment and perform minor repairs when necessary
• Operate equipment manually and also through the use of electronic or technical methods of operation
• Operate equipment loading and unloading cargo
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service
• Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
• Demonstrate effort to improve operations, and work in coordination with other departments.
• Perform other duties when assigned
• Adhere to safe practices and procedures; work site and traffic laws
Requirements:
• Completion of Secondary School
• 2 years of experience
