The District of Saanich is looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) generalist to join our team. The Human Resources Advisor provides professional advice on all aspects of the employment relationship. Key areas include collective agreement and policy interpretation, labour relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, change and transition and application of HR programs. The Human Resources Advisor has a designated client assignment and provides support to managers and supervisors in the conduct of their management responsibilities. In addition, this position provides training and education to all levels of the organization as well supports the HR Leadership team with assigned projects as required.

If you are applying for this position you have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of HR best practices as well as experience in the interpretation and application of related legislation and legal statutes governing human resources in a unionized setting. You are able to both individually and collaboratively problem solve complex issues quickly and effectively, and you have excellent written and verbal communication skills. In addition to your five or more years’ in depth experience as a Human Resources practitioner with a labour relations focus in a unionized environment, you have a Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education experience. Having the Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation or being eligible for designation would be an asset for any applicant.
